A few words about me…

I’ve been practicing shamanic healing for 20 years. I am a graduate of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies programs, including the Two Week Intensive, Three Year Advanced Shamanic Initiations, and Shamanic Counseling.

I’d like to acknowledge some of the people I have studied with who have contributed to my expanding and depeening understanding of the infinite world of healing. My deep appreciation goes to Michael Harner, Sandra Harner, Alicia Gates and Amanda Foulger of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. My practice has also been enriched by working with Betsy Bergstrom, Christina Donnell and Sandra Ingerman.

I also work as a licensed psychotherapist. Adding an adjunct discipline can often result in a very effective outcome. I wrote an article about my work using this union of healing practices “Crossing Boundaries: Psychotherapy Meets Shamanism.”

As a person devoted to healing, I am interested in all aspects of psychotherapy and  shamanic work. Presently, I am especially interested in connecting with a person’s creativity and with departed spirits.

My healing work is also informed by decades of practicing and teaching Aikido, mindfulness practice, and dance.

“It was 2007 that I first became aware of Alesia’s unusual psychotherapy practice. She is a seasoned Jungian who also has rigorous training and experience in shamanism and the realms of energy and Spirit. I knew immediately that our beliefs aligned in important ways. However, it was only recently that I sought her help for the first time, after I rediscovered an article she wrote for Sacred Hoop magazine in 2017 “Crossing Boundaries: When Shamanism and Psychotherapy Meet.”

The timing was perfect. I had been living reasonably well with a serious disease that had been diagnosed a couple of years earlier, but now I felt my life force draining out of me. It wasn’t my physical problem. It also wasn’t a psychological problem, as in many ways my life was working well. I wasn’t depressed. I didn’t need therapy. I just didn’t want to be here any longer. Mine was a spiritual, life-force, vitality issue. I felt that my work on the planet had come to an end.

After three shamanic sessions with Alesia, I was astonished at the change I experienced in my mood and general sense of wellbeing. Through her gentle practices we identified three entities whose invisible but powerful presence around me had been dragging me down. Alesia worked with me to helped them move on. Wow. An enormous weight lifted, and I have felt a new sense of myself, a new strength to be and contribute in the world. I can’t really explain it, except to say that Alesia’s work was profound and powerful.”
